Nearly half of the 23000-entry cap for next year’s 97th Comrades Marathon has been snapped up in the first day of the entry process which opened yesterday (Tuesday, 21 November 2023).
Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) Race & Operations Manager, Ann Ashworth has announced that over 10,000 entries have been received over the past 24 hours. She has urged aspirant #Comrades2024 athletes to get their entry in as soon as possible.
South African entries stand at nearly 9000 with the remaining entries from the rest of Africa and around the world.

Donations from generous athletes to the Comrades Amabeadibeadi Charities have exceeded the R230-thousand mark while runners’ contributions to the Comrades Runners Relief Fund stand at just over R62-thousand.
The entry period closes on 11 December 2023 as soon as the entry cap of 23,000 entries has been reached. Prospective entrants are encouraged to get their entries in early to avoid disappointment.
Entry fees remain the same as that of the 2023 Race and are as follows:

Entry is free to all runners who have completed the Comrades Marathon 25 times or more.

The 97th Comrades Marathon will be the 49th Up Run on Sunday, 9 June 2024, starting at the Durban City Hall at 05h30 and ending 12 hours later at the HollywoodBets Scottsville Racecourse, covering a distance of approximately 87km.
