Hungary will be represented by at least 25 athletes who have qualified by right for the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23 on 19-27 August.
As the host nation, Hungary is entitled to enter unqualified athletes in certain disciplines, so other athletes may be added to the team before final entries close.
As Hungary’s top performer in Oregon last year and their sole medallist in Doha in 2019, hammer thrower Bence Halasz represents the host nation’s best hope of a medal.
A strong championship performer, Halasz was world U20 champion in 2016 and European U23 champion one year later. He earned European bronze in 2018 and matched that medal at the World Championships one year later.
He set a PB of 80.15m in Oregon last year to place fifth in the World Championships final, then improved to 80.92m to take European silver in Munich.
Meanwhile, 2018 world indoor shot put champion Anita Marton will be competing at her seventh World Championships.
