Reigning Olympic and world champion Noah Lyles will headline the 100m event at the London Athletics Meet on Saturday, July 19.

The American sprint star, a triple gold medalist at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest winning titles in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay has cemented himself as a championship performer. Lyles secured Olympic gold in the 100m at the 2024 Paris Games, setting a lifetime best of 9.79, making him the 12th fastest man in history. Despite battling Covid, he managed to claim bronze in the 200m

Lyles has a strong history in London, having clocked 9.81 seconds in a high-caliber 100m race, his fastest time at that stage of his career.

My road to defending my world titles in Tokyo in September goes through London, said the 27-year-old sprinter. I’ve had great experiences there the last two years, running some of my fastest times, and I look forward to another in July. See you there!

The highly anticipated race will also provide British sprinters Zharnel Hughes and Louie Hinchliffe with a valuable opportunity to test themselves against the Olympic champion ahead of the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Several elite athletes have already confirmed their participation in the London Diamond League, including Keely Hodgkinson, Femke Bol, Molly Caudery, and Morgan Lake.

Lyles, who set a US record of 19.31 to win 200m gold at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, successfully defended his world title from Doha 2019. He kicked off his 2025 season at the Tom Jones Memorial in Florida, posting a personal best of 45.87 in the 400m.

The London Athletics Meet, recognized as the world’s biggest one-day athletics event, marks the 11th meeting of the 2025 Wanda Diamond League.
